Brinsley Forde the founding member, lead vocalist and major songwriter of Aswad.

Twice Grammy nominated with Aswad 2019 and received a Third Grammy nomination for Ulterior Motives which features on The Final Battle Sly + Robbie (Best Reggae Album) at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards in January 2020.

As both a lauded and inspiring performer The Wailers band and I-Threes have seen him step in and feature with them in the place of the legendary Bob Marley an inspiration for many established and upcoming artist such as Dizzee Rascal, Idris Elba and Bobbi Lewis.

Recognized by many to be the first black face they saw on UK TV, Brinsley stared as Spring in the children’s television series, Here Come the Double Decker’s. He also took on the role of Wesley in the popular British sitcom, Please Sir and featured in both the film and the TV series.
He’s appeared in James Bond film, Diamonds Are Forever, The Georgian House, Goodbye Charlie Brite.

His performance in the cult hit film Babylon (directed by Franco Rosso), released in Jamaica saw Brinsley performing music from the films sound track with students of the Edna Manley Orchestra conducted by the outstanding Ebo Cooper (Third World) at the Ambassador Theatre in Trench Town the movie now 40 nyears on is hailed as a Reggae classic recently revisited by the British Film Institute and is being aired on UK’s Netflix.

As a network TV host, Brinsley presented VH1 Soul Vibrations, BBC’s Ebony & Ebony on the road,
He was chosen as one of the broadcasters to open the BBC’s first digital radio station BBC 6 Music
Presenting two shows Lively Up Yourself and later Dub Plate Bashment a show. remminesant of his good friend Michael Campbell’s Dread at the Control. Michael Campbell’s Ident a constant part of the dub show.

Brinsley’s can be heard presenting the acclaimed radio documentaries Behind The Smile the real life of Bob Marley & Island Rock eight-part series to mark the 40th anniversary of Jamaica’s Independence.

With Aswad Brinsley scored a British number one with Don’t Turn Around. followed by other top 20 hits, Give A Little Love, Shine reaching the number 5 spot, Next To You and Set Them Free.

Brinsley has played some of the largest international festivals a 15 date South American tour which led him through Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, Chile, Panama and Mexico earning him the title of Tio Brinz.

Brinsley wrote two superb tracks that hit the top spot with Nonpaladece in Argentina Keep The Fyah Burning and Total Destruction Brinsley is firmly in the hearts of the South American reggae scene.
2019 saw Brinsley form a UK Reggae Super Group, 3 The Hard Way, with David Hinds (Steel Pulse) and Dennis Bovell (Matumbi).

After playing Royal Albert Hall in support of Teenage Cancer Trust they have been going from strength to strength and are currently working on new music to be released soon.

Brinsley Forde a true professional, his energy, stage presence, voice and passion has never wained and continues to delight crowds across the globe, Poland’s Ostroda Reggae Festival and Róbrege, Brinsley delighted his audience to a two and a half hour show, and is the vocal on the soon to be released Klucztown.
